Il blues è sempre stata una componente fondamentale della musica di Carlos Santana.

In una magica notte al Montreux Jazz Festival nel Luglio 2004, l'artista ha avuto la possibilità di suonare insieme a tre dei suoi bluesmen preferiti: Buddy Guy, Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown e Bobby Parker, ognuno dei quali si esibisce in un vero e prorio concerto a cui danno il proprio contributo Carlos e altri special guests come Nile Rodgers, Barbara Morrison, Chester Thompson, Andy Vargas, Jeff Cressman e Myron Dove.
